Welcome Volunteers

We are always looking for new volunteers and have many rewarding opportunities available for you.

Our Early Care and Education program provides low cost, quality care to children from low income and poverty level homes whose parents are working or going to school.  The Center serves 100 children daily ranging in age from 18 months to five years old and is open Monday through Friday.  Volunteers can work in the child care center as teachers' aides.  Responsibilities include reading to the children, being a mentor, helping with arts and crafts, meals, and circle time.  Volunteer shifts are: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm. Some weekend and evening shifts are available. Other opportunities are available on a seasonal basis. Have a talent you would like to share?  Art, music, dance?  Please call to let us know.

Join WCC's Auxiliary!  This group of volunteers organizes and hosts our annual Children's Arts Festival to raise operating funds for WCC.  This event is a day of fun for children and their families.  The Auxiliary meets throughout the year; the number of meetings increases two months prior to the event.  We are always looking for volunteers to help plan the Arts Festival by joining the Auxiliary Committee.  Volunteers are also needed to help the day of the event.  Arts Festival 2009

Join the Big Hearts Club!  This group of volunteers organizes an annual fundraising event to benefit Westside Children's Center in helping children and families in need build a brighter future for themselves. This year we celebrated amazing women with the first virtual Mother's Day event and online tribute journal. Big Hearts Event

Join the Young Benefactors! This is a volunteer leadership group of young professionals that generates community awareness and financial support for Westside Children's Center through social networking events. Through these efforts, The Young Benefactors provide their members with an opportunity to inspire change in their community, connect with their peers and build a lasting relationship with the organization.

 • Be on "The list" ! Sign up to receive invitations to The Young Benefactors' Social events and volunteer opportunities such as happy hours, shopping benefits, silent auctions and more!

 • Be a part of making it happen! Become a member of an event planning committee.

 • Be our hook up! Do you know the hottest locations in town or a contact that we must get in touch with? We would love the introduction and would greatly appreciate your help!

Create your own volunteer group!  WCC is fortunate enough to work with a variety of groups throughout the year.  These groups take on projects ranging in size and scale from helping in our child care center to organizing fund raising events.  Have an idea?  Let us know!

All volunteers must present a note from their doctor indicating that have had a negative Tb test within the last year.  All volunteers 18 and over are required by law, to have a criminal background check, including a child abuse index.  Please note there is a fee for this procedure.
